OLD NEWS (No need to read unless you want to know why I decided to make a new account).
Okay, you know how I got a bit riled up the other day about the policy that is going to take effect. I thought that DA said it was okay for our works to be copied/traced. Well bloody hell, I was quite wrong because I talked to one of the higher-up's here on DA and asked them about it. Turns out, NO...NOBODY can copy/trace our work, especially without our permission. If that happens, then that work will be taken down & the person in trouble.
Thank God!
So now there is no more need for anybody to worry. Our work cannot be copied/traced without permission. Good!
So yes, I will be making my new account in a couple of weeks. I can't wait to share my new work with ya'll! This upcoming Monday I will be submitting my work the the Copyright Office/USA Library of Congress. Let's see how long it takes. The sooner, the better!
End of Update

Happy New Year everybody! We have reached the end of a decade. It's amazing how fast time has flown by (and the fact that this month is almost over). I figured I should update my journal since I haven't been around this site lately. I do believe I will have my new account up in a few more weeks. (It should be up mid-February at the latest). I just have 3 more artworks to colour in before I submit everything for copyright.
I can submit as much artwork in as I want per copyright kit, so I'm also thinking that I might draw a couple of more works before I copyright everything. I figure the more I can copyright at once, the better (that way I only have to pay one price, instead of keep on submitting kits/applications for seperate fees). While I think I can finish the remaining three works (and also draw two more artworks) in about a week, I also have to find a way to scan my artwork, do adjustments in Photoshop (such as watermarking), save them to a USB port, & then submit them for official copyright. I do not have much money at the moment, so that's why I want to submit a lot of work at once (for that one fee, which is probably about $150 at the most). That's not a bad price to pay for officially copyright my artwork.
And once this is all done, then I will make my new account! I can't wait!
I'm sorry I haven't kept up with everybody's artwork. I have viewed your newest work (and I am enjoying it very much...keep it up, everybody!) but I wish I had more time to comment. I just want to use my free time to work on my artwork. Trust me, once I make my new gallery, I'll go back to commenting on your artwork.
And yes, I will let everybody know when my new account is up.
Much love from,
J.E.McNeese
P.S. Thank you for all the

Aloha everybody! I just thought I should update this thing; it's been sitting here since mid-September. (Have I really been gone that long?)
As of this moment, I am done with all of my assignments. I just finished my last research paper. It was on Henry VIII & his relationships with his wives and children. So if you ever want to know anything on this subject, please ask! I wrote 25 pages on it, so I'd better know this topic well.
Funny, isn't it, how Henry VIII is often glamorized? Such as the television show "The Tudors" (with Johnathan Rhys-Myers...and no, I haven't watched it before)...Henry VIII always seems glamorized as this dark & swarthy kind of man. In reality, he had fair skin and ginger hair. If you want to know what he looked like, just search for his portraits (which were done by Hans Holstein, his court painter) at a search engine.
But yes indeed, I am finished with all work. On December 12th, I will be obtaining my BA in English. Finally! After 6 years at the university, I will finally get my degree. I am very excited about it.
Now I can really work on my artwork. I've actually done a lot of artwork...they are inked (but NOT coloured in yet). I have about 6 original artworks, a bunch of character profiles (I've done 11 out of 17 characters for a story of mine, that I take very seriously), and one fan art in the past 2 1/2 months. I am hoping to finish the 7 remaining characters within the next couple of weeks. After that, I am going to colour in all this artwork & then have it registered under official copyright. Once my artwork is copyrighted, I will make my new account & start submitting my new artwork. I hope to be able to do this in late January 2009 or early February 2009.
I honestly think my artwork has improved (anatomy-wise). I also hope when I start colouring my new artwork in that my colouring will be better. I suppose I can say my new art style looks similar to my "When Schuyler Met Faythe" artwork, but better! What I should say is that my art style now has a bit of manga-style elements in it mixed with a touch of realism. I've been working a lot at realistic anatomy. I've been making people more accurate to their heights (notice how in manga some characters are supposed to be 5'3" but look like they are 6'4" due to long limbs?) Well, I've totally dropped that style. I make people with different proportions: short limbs, long limbs, short legs with long torso, small breasts (because in reality, billions of women have them), a curvy tummy, muscular, extremely curvy, svelte, slim, short, and different face shapes. It's been a challenge but I am really enjoying drawing like this. I guess my style is sort of based on a few manga-elements with a mixture of realistic proporitions. I guess I can call it more comic book artstyle (but not quite so American.) Well darn I don't know what to call it! It has elements influences by a lot of styles of arwtork!
Also, another feature I will be having in my new gallery is historical costumes. I've been sketching out people wearing clothes from the 1800's (and various other centuries) because I like the subject a lot.
Slowly but surely I will finally get around to checking out everybody's galleries & commenting on your new work.

Like I mentioned, do not feel as if my artwork is good enough. I'm not even sure I want to be here on DA anymore. I'm also tired of all the bias here on this site. There are so many great artists here that don't get the recognition they deserve. I'm tired of a "popular" artist who draws a stick figure & people are like, "OMG, that's amazing!" and it gets 10,000 favourites in a week. So many of the people that I watch (and vice versa) have amazing artwork & they don't get the pageviews/comments/favourites they deserve.
I came to this realization about two weeks ago. My original artwork doesn't do well on this site, so I believe I need to work better at my artwork. I have a lot to learn with everything about art (as I mentioned in the paragraph above: shading, lighting, backgrounds, etc.). When I accomplish this, maybe I"ll come back and submit more? Or perhaps I shall make a new account? (To be quite honest with you, I've outgrown the "AyaneShinobi" name because it doesn't reflect who I am. It was based off a game character & I haven't played the game in years [in fact, I haven't played games in over a year]).
This is why I have been gone for a while. This site has become totally uninspiring for me. So I am sorry to say that I probably won't have anymore artwork for a while. I'll probably come and visit the site once in a while to check up on everybody & comment &

Wow, I hadn't expected this sort of reaction to my bad news. I apologize to all of you (who replied to this journal) if I made you sad, upset, angry, or annoyed. Honestly, those of you who replied to my original news are the pretty much the only ones who have meant a lot to me [on this site]. I'm not just saying that because you replied to the journal...I honestly mean what I am saying. I know who has always given me comments,
I didn't write the journal to get attention. I didn't do it because I want to be a popular artist. I just am tired of the same old "politics" going on here and how things are run...I am tired of the bias. A whole lot of you have such great, unique artwork and I see how hard you work on your artwork and all the great improvments over the years. I just wish all of you would get the recognition you deserve, because your artwork is so much better than half of the scheisse that is considered popular on this site.
I probably should not have said anything bad about my artwork, especially since a lot of you said that you love it and/or it inspired you. I know, that was not a good thing for me to say. What do I really think of my work? I just want to get better...I know I can do better than this. I need to work on better lighting (since all of my lighting is exactly the same) and backgrounds. I think if I work on those two, my work will look better.
I've decided that I am going to make a new account. I'm thinking of making the new account in February 2009. I know that is a long time to make you wait for my new work, but I need a lot of practice and time before I feel I can submit my artwork. As for this gallery, I am going to disable all comments on my work. If people want to
What I will do is come here every so often & check out your galleries & comment on your artwork.

A pity that my gallery doesn't hold a candle to yours...it used to be quite decent, until I had a change of heart and realized the paltry things I did were not art.
