Well, my Spring Break is officially over. ;( I was actually pretty busy during last week but I did have time to draw. I haven't really worked on original characters that much (mostly just sketching & colour coding/coordinations). One day I was looking at Amano Yoshitaka's artwork & I really liked Amano's designs for the Final Fantasy VII characters, especially Aerith's (or Aeris).
I noticed that a lot of Amano's FF7 artwork pairs up Cloud & Aerith. (Yay! I actually like those two together.) But all of it was mostly in black & white and not only that, all of Aerith's outfits were different.
Here are links to the pics in case you haven't seen them before: [link] [link] [link]
I was inspired by Amano to draw Aerith in his designs (even though Tetsuya Nomura is the official character designer for FF7). So in actuality, this design of Aerith here is half original (by me, of course) and half a mixture of Amano's different Aerith designs. I like the art noveau style so I thought it would make a good background. I gave Aerith wings because she is such an angelic character. I really liked her a lot in the game.
Drawn with black India Ink & coloured in with watercolours. The colour outside the border was done in Photoshop...nothing too major. So this pic is 5% Photoshop, 95% Traditional mediums.
